The Arnold Schoenberg Choir has been the opera choir at the Theater an der Wien since 2006, but its history goes back much further than that. Founded in 1972 by Erwin Ortner, the choir reaches its 50th anniversary on 26 October. A reason to celebrate! And what better way to do so than with a major concert that shows off the ensemble’s great versatility to best advantage? The guest list includes Schütz, Distler, Bach, Haydn, Schubert, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Bruckner, Schoenberg, Eisler, Ligeti and Cerha.
