AUSTRIAN MUSIC THEATRE AWARD
The Theater an der Wien received awards in several categories.
At this year's Austrian Music Theatre Award ceremony in the Wolkenturm in Grafenegg, the Theater an der Wien received awards in no less than five categories.
The award for best direction went to Andrea Breth for “Der feurige Engel“, the award for best stage design to Katrin Lea Tag for “Porgy and Bess“.
The award for the best overall production in the field of opera went to “Der feurige Engel“ and the award for the best overall production in the field of operetta/musical/revue theatre to “Zaza“. The Off-Theatre Prize in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport was awarded to Günther Groissböck for “Tristan Experiment“ at the Kammeroper.
The MusikTheater an der Wien with artistic director Stefan Herheim is pleased with all the award winners and congratulates the former artistic director of the Theater an der Wien Prof. Roland Geyer and his team for these first-class performances, which could be staged under his artistic directorship at the Theater an der Wien. We are also delighted about the award for Vera-Lotte Boecker, who won the prize for best newcomer as Micaela in “Carmen“ at the Vienna State Opera. She will be seen in the title role in our joint project with the Wiener Festwochen, LULU.
We are looking forward to an exciting future with excellent artists and to many outstanding productions in the new season.
