THEODORA ON 30 MARCH ON 3SAT
Handel's oratorio Theodora, a work about religious tolerance, Christian virtues and humanist values, can be seen on 3sat on 30 March at 8.15 pm. Director Stefan Herheim staged this "beacon of music theatre history" and transformed the stage of Halle E into a monumental coffee house cathedral in 2023.
The American soprano Jacquelyn Wagner can be seen in the title role, alongside Christopher Lowrey (Didymus) and David Portillo (Septimius), among others. The countertenor and Handel interpreter Bejun Mehta will conduct the La Folia Baroque Orchestra.
