"KUBLAI KHAN" CELEBRATES PREMIERE

Antonio Salieri's political satire Kublai Khan - a premiere that was more than 200 years late - had its last premiere last Friday in the alternative venue, Hall E in the MuseumsQuartier. Director Martin G. Berger's production, bubbling over with bizarre humour, featured Carlo Lepore (Kublai), Alasdair Kent (Timur), Marie Lys (Alzima) and Leon Košavić (Posega) as well as Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz as Salieri. They were accompanied by the renowned baroque ensemble Les Talens Lyriques under the direction of Christophe Rousset. The audience thanked everyone involved with long-lasting applause.

Kublai Khan can be seen until 15 April.
