"FREITAG, DER DREIZEHNTE" - IN MEMORIAM MICHAEL BODER
MusikTheater an der Wien presents the conductor's last project in a premiere dedicated to him.
Conductor Michael Boder died unexpectedly in Vienna on Sunday, 7 April at the age of 65. At the MusikTheater an der Wien, he last rehearsed the project Freitag, der Dreizehnte, which he and director Johannes Erath had conceived to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of composer Arnold Schönberg.
The MusikTheater an der Wien is continuing the development of this extraordinary production in the spirit of the highly esteemed conductor and friend.
Freitag, der Dreizehnte premieres on Friday 26 April and can be experienced on five further dates at the Reaktor. Anna Sushon, the previous director of studies, is now also taking over the musical direction of the ensemble with Christine Schäfer and Magdalena Anna Hofmann, Klangforum Wien and the Arnold Schoenberg Chor. Anna Sushon has prepared the project together with Michael Boder and will perform it in his spirit. She works internationally as a répétiteur, accompanist and conductor, and her repertoire includes works from all stylistic periods, with a focus on contemporary music.
Friday the Thirteenth is dedicated in memory of Michael Boder.
