The first open day at the newly renovated Theater an der Wien will take place in 2025!
Over the past two and a half years, the Theater an der Wien, including its building fabric, has been thoroughly and sustainably renovated. This has secured the long-term future of the opera house for generations to come. One of the most modern opera stages has been created, which meets the highest standards and requirements for the safety and comfort of visitors, artists and staff and guarantees contemporary, modern theatre operations in the long term. In order to guarantee smooth interaction between the complex stage technology and all technical areas, a large number of training courses, familiarisation sessions, test runs, stress tests and safety checks are necessary. This intensive process will take several weeks and will unfortunately affect theatre operations in the first few months. This will lead to changes in the programme and a postponement of the open day at the newly renovated Theater an der Wien until next year.
The plan is to offer visitors the opportunity to discover the newly designed spaces in front of and behind the stage. During the ‘Open Doors Day’, the Theater an der Wien will be transformed into an experience space with a diverse programme for young & old. We present the new possibilities of the stage in a technical show, show visitors the otherwise hidden rooms behind, next to and under the stage, let the young audience be transformed by our make-up artists for a day and give our visitors the opportunity to sing along in a big concert at the MusikTheater an der Wien.
You will soon find more information about the new date and the exact programme here, via our newsletter and on our social media channels.
