Der gebürtige Londoner studierte an der Royal Ballet School sowie English National Ballet School und tanzte im National Ballet of Portugal, ehe er 2004 ans Nasjonalballetten kam. 2012 wurde Philipp Currell zum Solotänzer ernannt und glänzte in klassischen Balletten wie Schwanensee, Der Nussknacker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Nureyevs Don Quixote, MacMillans Manon, Onegin, Neumeiers A Streetcar Named Desire und Spucks Woyzeck. Er tanzte berühmte Soloparts in The Four Temperaments, Tschaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2 und Symphony in Three Movements sowie Tetleys Arena, Voluntaries und The Tempest. Im modernen Ballett wirkte er v.a. in Kyliáns Produktionen mit (Wings of Wax, Soldiers' Mass, Stepping Stones, Heart's Labyrinth, Six Dances), aber auch von Forsythe (z.B. Forsythes Steptext), Duato (z.B. White Darkness) und dem Choreografen-Duo Lightfoot & León (z.B. Subject to Change).
